Hugh Darvill

"I don't even actually like you."

Vain. Narcissistic. Egotistical. These are just a few of the words that can be used to sum up Hugh Darvill. The failed author of the critically-derided "Sixty Shades of Gay" (which he describes as an "erotic fantasy sci-fi comedy crime thriller for ages 9+"), Hugh enjoys taking any oppurtunities available to promote his unpopular novel, as well as assert his dominance over Daisy Shelby, his younger roommate who just happens to be a very succesful writer herself.

Though Hugh can often be percieved as outwardly mean and occasionally cruel, his harsh exterior masks a heart of gold that shines through when his friends are in need. In particular, he has a close bond with Jess Spencer, his new roommate, despite their rather shaky introduction to one another. Hugh's friendship with Jess is directly at odds with his dislike towards Emmett Shelby, Daisy's twin brother and Jess' love interest, who generally seems to irritate him no end.

However, out of all of his rommates and "aquaintances", Hugh has an especially close relationship with Barney Fields, Daisy's live-in boyfriend, which has developed into a very personal "bro-mance" based on their shared love of movies and all things geeky. Although their conflicting personalities often lead to hilarious and (on occasion) violent consequences, the pair are inseperable, and can usually be found on the house sofa watching a movie together.
